Dental Bridges

Dental bridge is a permanent option, and they bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.
A bridge is composed of two or more teeth crowns from one or the other part of the gap, and those two or more helping teeth are said to be abutment teeth along with false teeth in between. This is ideal to cover your missing tooth. Typically the bridge helps in restoring your bite and keeping the usual shape of your face. Our treatment for Dental bridges in Sri Lanka is always the best one.

Why you need a bridge?

A missing tooth is not a small problem to leave, this is a serious matter. When a tooth is lost, the nearby teeth may tilt or drift into empty space. The teeth that are present in the opposite jaw also move up or down into space. This will disturb your bite too and produce more stress on your joints and teeth, causing damage and pain.
The tipped or drifted tooth is difficult and harder to clean. This results in tooth decay or gum disease. Bone may shrink if a tooth is missing, and this can make your face look older.

Placing the fixed bridge

Your dentist uses current natural teeth on both sides of your lost tooth to help hold your bridge in place. It takes more than one dental visit to place the bridge.
  • During the initial visit, our dentist prepares the teeth on both sides of the gap, and the bridge will be attached to those teeth.
  • Then an impression is made and sent to the laboratory where technicians follow our dentist’s instruction to make the bridge.
  • A temporary bridge is placed to protect your prepared teeth until a permanent bridge is made.
  • When the permanent bridge is made, it will be fitted and adjusted by our dentist.
  • These are permanent bridges and cannot be removed without the help of a dentist.

In what material bridges are made?

Bridges are made from ceramics or metals. Sometimes a mixture of both is made. Our dentist will advise you about the material that suits you the best.

How to maintain the bridge?

  • Brush and floss your teeth daily. It helps in removing plaque.
  • Clean between your teeth and under the bridge using flossers.
  • Visit your dentist regularly.
  • Eat healthy food.
  • Use sealed products accepted by ADA.
