Root Canal treatment

Root Canal treatment

Root canal treatment is the process of removal of soft inner tooth tissue, named as the dental pulp, or nerve to save a tooth that is decayed badly or becomes infected. During this treatment, the nerve and pulp are removed, and the tooth is cleaned and sealed inside. Our Root canal treatment in Sri Lanka is painless and best.
When there is any trouble in the dental pulp, it leads to toothache, and sometimes the pain is not felt, but infection can be detected on x-rays.
Any pain and discomfort in tooth can be corrected by removing the current nerve tissue and filling it with a rubber or cement-like material

High standard root filling

We provide root canal treatment to the best level, and we follow the practice as per international standards.
Our root filling treatment is high standard, and we ensure we provide a painless procedure for all our patients.

Does removing nerve tissue causes any oral problems?

The nerve of a tooth is not so important to a tooth’s health. Their only function is to provide a hot or cold sensation, and it won’t affect the normal functioning of the tooth.

Signs that a root canal treatment is needed

If you have pain in tooth, it is a symptom that your teeth are decaying, and you need a root canal treatment. According to the American Association of Endodontists, pain in teeth is the first symptom for tooth decay.
Sometimes the pain may disappear if the pulp is dead completely due to progressed infection. You may think the infection is gone, but it is false. You can examine your teeth in X-ray, and if you found any damage in the pulp, then root canal treatment is needed. Other signs include.
  • Sensitivity to cold or heat
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Tenderness and swelling in gums

What happens if root canal treatment is not done?

The infection at the tip of the root will spread into the surrounding bone and soft tissues and cause more severe infection that results in swelling and pain. Bacteria’s present in those teeth enters into the bloodstream and infect the other parts of the body too.

Prevention of root canal

Deep decay is the primary reason for inflammation of tooth and its pulp. It can be prevented by
  • Visiting your dentist regularly
  • Brushing twice a day
  • Flossing regularly
  • Wearing a mouth guard prevents trauma due to sports-related injury.
